Someday
by Dave W.

Someday I'll get up from sleep
And be glad the day is here
Today is not that day for me
The thumping makes this too clear.

Someday I'll go to my work
Lights and sounds I will not dread
Now is still another day
With knives stuck into my head.

Someday I'll see my kids play ball
Be the loudest one to cheer
Not this game and not this shot
He misses me, I fear.

Someday I'll go on a date
Take my love for food and wine
Not tonight, my head it pounds
Another eve done by nine.

Someday my doc will tell me
She has thought of something new
Pills or poison to inject
Sorry doc, I've tried them, too.

Someday I'll get up from sleep
And be glad the day is here
Pray that day will come for me
I have faith that it is near.

Today I woke, the pain was there
But something seemed not quite right
It hurt, for sure, but not the same
Did God here my prayers last night?
