Sitting still, breathing slow,
I feel the pulse in my forehead tick.
Eighty per minute, eighty quick pains.
“But you don’t look sick!”
Can you see inside my head?
Behind my eyes, pain is a wall.
Should I care how you think I look?
“I think I have some Tylenol.”
It doesn’t.
Work.
It never.
Did.
Anything stronger and I’m dizzy,
I drown.
What else is there I can try?
“If it were that bad, you’d have to lay down.”
Fifteen
Days
I suffer
Each month.
Why should I rest?
One day
I’ll be dead.
Life goes on, with or without
This invisible pain inside my head.
