The pain that fills me,
Tying knots in my throat,
Leaving me unable to talk,
Eat,
Walk,
Will it ever leave me?
Will it ever heal?
Will I ever be able to do anything other than cry?
I lay on my side
Holding my stomach,
As if to hold in the pain.
The floor 'neath my head
Is soaked in tears
And yet still more come.
My mouth gapes open
In a silent scream.
The aching loneliness
That never seems to leave
Is the only thing I can feel.
It's the only thing that seems to be in the room.
A room I know
Is filled with memories
Of fun and laughter.
None of it means a thing
As I mourn the past
And the future.
Bleak and desolate,
Without company,
Without friends and laughter.
without love?
I can't stand,
The pain of it is crippling.
Any attempt
Just leaves me curled tighter 'round myself.
Lying on the floor,
Nothing to soften the blow,
The knot in my throat grows bigger and bigger
Until it seems I cannot breathe.
I wonder if it would be better to end it all,
But cannot bring myself to even consider how.
Still,
Wave after wave
Of unrelenting pain
Wash over me.
Each time I think I can rise,
Each time I think the knot in my throat has eased,
Another wave washes over m
And once again I collapse on the floor,
Unable to rise,
Unable to beat back the loneliness,
Unable to escape the despair.
And so I lay there,
On the cold hard floor,
Tears pooling 'neath my head
