Supplemental Content: Living Well with Migraine Disease and Headaches

Poetry Contests

Migraine can be a horribly debilitating disease as can other headache disorders. They can leave us feeling very isolated and alone.

Why a poetry contest?

  • Writing is a wonderful outlet for many people with chronic health problems. It gives us the opportunity to express feelings, and often helps us get some of the frustration out of our systems. It's a very healthy activity for many of us.
  • Sharing these wonderful works of art can help express the fear, pain, and frustration of headaches/migraine in a way that some people will understand better than they would a normal conversation.
  • To support each other while building awareness among people who don't have Migraine or another headache disorder.
  • To observe National Poetry Month
  • Why not? :-)

I've been holding poetry contests since 2001. There was a break in 2004 and 2005 due to some personal health issues. Here are links to all the wonderful poetry people have submitted over the years:

Every year, I'll update this page and post links to enter the most current contest. Entries are generally accepted in February and March with the winners announced in April, in time for National Poetry Month.

Please bookmark this page so you can keep up with all the wonderful works submitted AND enter the contest yourself.

Living Well With Migraine Disease & Headaches is available in bookstores and shipping from online booksellers now. For a description on the book or an Amazon link, click HERE. To read an excerpt from my book or other content, check our Supplemental Content Section.

Remember:

Optimal health care can be achieved
only when patients are educated
about their health and patients and
physicians work together as
treatment partners in an
atmosphere of mutual respect.
